Just get good grades. Make sure you also pay attention to your emails and make sure you read the instructions to all applications and forms. Otherwise they like to screw you on technicalities and you may as well have not even sent anything in at all.

Very, VERY involved in high school extracurriculars. Held various leadership positions in and out of school environment. Perfect GPA of 4.00. I worked hard in high school and that's what got me into the Honors College (which is a GREAT program by the way)!

I applied the night before. I copy and pasted the same essay I used for all of my other schools. It's a fall-back school for a lot of people, since it has a high acceptance rate. Any school as large as this is going to have a high acceptance rate, though. Don't let that make you think it's not as credible. I thought that long ago, when I was looking at Yale and Harvard, but I've realized that there is rigor here; it's just not against every damn person you meet. Which is refreshing. And desirable. Love. Come here.
